MAINTAINING YOUR CARPET

Maintaining your carpets

Carpeting is a huge home investment. Not only does it provide warmth and comfort, but it also makes a style statement in any room. No one wants to have to replace carpeting before its time.

1. Vacuum Daily

Daily vacuuming helps pick up dirt, debris pollutants, allergens, lead, insects, and anything else we drag into the house with our feet, before emerging into the carpet.

2. Clean spots and spills immediately

Immediate attention to spots and spills will reduce the bacteria and any other problems associated with the spill.  Remember to use a clean white rag and BLOT DO NOT RUB the carpet.  Also AVOID OTHER CAPRET CLEANING PRODUCTS.  In most cases other carpet cleaning products simply mask stains or drive them deeper.  Spend that little extra to have carpets professionally cleaned.

3. Help to revive carpet fibres

Carpeting in high-traffic areas can easily become worn down and its fibres’ broken. With regular vacuuming and professional cleaning, you can remove all harmful allergens together with helping to revive your carpet fibres and bring them back to life.

Using advance technology and machinery our powerful hot water extraction system cleans and sanitises right down to the core roots of the carpet, providing superior results.

Is it time for your professional treatment? Take care of your investment and have your carpets professionally cleaned.  Australian Carpet Cleaning Services P/L only uses environmentally friendly products safe for kids and pets.

INK REMOVAL

How to remove ink from your carpet

Time is of the essence when you’re removing ink from carpet: Act fast when the ink has been spilt.  Here are some options to assist with the removal of ink process.  Please ensure you conduct a test patch on the carpet in a conspicuous area of the carpet prior to attempting to remove the ink.

  • RUBBING ALCOHOL: Wet a clean white cloth with rubbing alcohol and use it to blot the stain (DO NOT RUB OR AGITATE CARPET AS THIS RUINS CARPET PILE), starting at the edges and working your way inwards to prevent the stain from spreading. Continue re-wetting and blotting until the spot fades away. This will probably take 30 minutes or more.
  •  DETERGENT: Mix about 1 cup of water with a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent, creating a soapy solution. Dip a cloth into the solution and dab onto the stain. Continue blotting until the stain is removed. If the stain is small, this method should work well.

With all of these products, we recommend that you do a test patch on an unimportant and unseen area of the

After you’ve removed the stain, rinse the area with warm water to remove any residue. Blot the area with a dry cloth to remove excess water and then leave the area alone, allowing the carpet to dry. After it dries, you may need to LIGHTLY fluff the carpet fibers up with your fingers.

NAIL POLISH REMOVAL

Nail Polish Removal

1. Immediate Action. As soon as you notice the spillage/stain act immediately to avoid the nail polish seeping further into the carpet fibres or dry up.  The longer you wait the worse the stain will be.

2. Blot Stain. Grab a lint free white rag.  DO NOT RUB the stain as this technique can actually push the nail polish further into the carpet and ruin the carpet pile, so it’s important that you blot the stain instead. Start on the edges and work inward as well, so that the stain doesn’t spread.

3. Remove Excess. Using a rag or paper towel, blot the excess nail polish from the carpet.

4. Remove Stain. Before you start applying cleaning products on the stain, test them in an unseen and inconspicuous area of your carpet. This is especially important if you have a dark-coloured carpet, because some products will remove the carpet’s dye along with the nail polish. If your carpet is a very light colour, try using a non-acetone nail polish remover. Pour some onto a rag and blot the stain, slowly removing it. If your carpet is dark, try using hair spray or rubbing alcohol instead. Again, spray/pour them onto a rag and blot. DO NOT SPRAY/POUR STRAIGHT ONTO CARPET.

6. Rinse. Once the stain is removed, rinse the area with water and dab with a cloth to dry AGAIN NEVER RUB THE CARPET.. If the stain smells strongly of nail polish or nail polish remover, you might want to wash the area with a mixture of liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water before you rinse (APPLY TO A CLEAN RAG. DO NOT PUT STRAIGHT ONTO CARPET). Place clean dry white rag over the area and place a heavy item on top to soak up the excess water.

7. Contact Australian Carpet Cleaning Services P/L: for further assistance or if the stain is still visible.  It is imperative that no other carpet cleaning chemicals are applied to any stain as this will set the stain in the carpet making it impossible and/or difficult to remove.
